COVID-19, Your Safety and Our Safety

The way we vacation has changed as a result of COVID-19, but you still get to enjoy all the benefits of 5 star service and luxury, with the added peace of mind that our team have got you covered.

The same can be said if you are just popping into Dahon Restaurant for a snack or a meal. Or if you are joining us as a day guest, it’s the same level of care that is taken.

Airborne Pathogen Safety Training

Every team member has successfully completed an internationally recognized training course on airborne pathogens – if you would like to know more about this training course, please just ask us.

COVID-19 Work Protocols Developed

We’ve developed new work protocols for every department in the resort to ensure that our team members, guests, suppliers and service personnel are all protected. These are extensive and form our “COVID-19 Work Safe Procedures” manual that is issued to every team member.

COVID-19 Training for All Personnel

Every team member has successfully completed an internal training course on how the new procedures are to be carried out, and what changes apply to their individual role. Here is just a snapshot of some of the content that is included in this facilitated training program:

Review & Approval by Regulatory Authorities

Before re-opening after our 6 month closure, our new procedures and the installation of safety gear, was subject to review and approval by the Local Government Health Unit, and the Philippines Department of Tourism. Only once they approve of the systems in place, can a resort open for business.

Approved to operate by the Philippines Department of Tourism

  • Guest & employee health declarations (employees are required to complete a health declaration every day)
  • Daily temperature checks
  • Face masks for all team members
  • Face shields for customer-facing team members
  • Sterilization of glassware, crockery and cutlery to international standards
  • Sterilization of dive equipment to international standards
  • Comfort rooms are sanitized every 2 hours during operating hours

We have a sumptuous buffet dinner event to celebrate New Year’s Eve 2020 (if you are looking for details, you can view the event info here).

Buffet meals have also changed as a result of the pandemic, and here is how we will be managing our event to ensure everyone stays safe:

  • Guests will be invited to get food on a table by table basis, to ensure you are the only guests at the buffet at any given time
  • (Don’t worry, you will be able to get food as many times as you need to … your personal waiter or waitress will make sure you are looked after. No one ever leaves Salaya hungry!)
  • Tables will be socially distanced in accordance with the ‘new normal’ health requirements
  • Salaya staff will be serving you from behind the buffet so that guests do not have to handle any serving implements
  • Our staff wear full PPE including masks and face shields, and sanitize hands a minimum of every 20 minutes
